Now back to Mothman. Mothman, as depicted above, is a 6-7ft black winged creature that vaguely is in the shape of a man, with red glowing eyes. There are is variations to how his appearance is described when it becomes more detailed than this but most agree with the general description.
Mothman was first spotted in Point Pleasant, West Virginia by four people. They were exploring the nearby abandoned dynamite storage bunkers when they spotted Mothman. They then fled when he reportedly took off in flight. The two couples made it to their car where Mothman then followed them, hovering behind their car. The couples eventually saw Mothman fly off.
Afterwards they immediately went to the Sheriff's station and reported their sighting. They were of course, skeptical, and interviewed each person separately. Apparently each person had similar enough stories that a check was sent but the police could find no evidence of the Mothman.
The Mothman sighting didn't stop there. Over the next few weeks, several people in and around Point Pleasant reported seeing a similar creature. Things came to a head when people who has witnessed Mothman reported that they had been having dreams including the Silver bridge and christmas presents floating in the water.
On December 15, 1967, the Silver Bridge collapsed killing 46 people. Those who had these visions said that it looked exactly like it did in their dreams. People blamed the Mothman for the sudden collapse, as it was not immediately obvious why the bridge collapsed. The report finding the cause took three years to complete.
Throughout the years there have been several people who have claimed to see the Mothman, including someone who claimed the Mothman tried to steal her child. As these stories gained traction other folk on the east coast also claimed to see the Mothman, however, the most documented sighting all exist near West Virginia.
Now Point Pleasant has embraced the Mothman as has a festival for him every September. They even have a musuem fully documenting the incidents involving him and the Silver Bridge. They also have a collection of the various movies and documentaries featuring the Mothman.
Pictures shown above are from my trip to Point Pleasant and the articles are shown in their musuem. Thats also why they suck lol.
